Hey guys I am a non-boater who fishes the BFL. Some of the worst tournaments I have fished on the river have been when the water is high and fast. I know many of you guys are out there a lot I was wondering what patterns you find in these conditions. I have heard they will hold on the original shoreline, they will move into the trees, they will move out with the declining water and up with rising. I don’t get out on the river unless in a tournament so I have not been able to experiment. All I know is when I see that high water I get discouraged and that alone could be my problem. Maybe some good advice will boost my confidence. Thanks for the help guys.

not to much high water to worry about this year. but in the past i have looked for eddies or some kind of current break close to the area you would find the fish in normal pool.

I’ve found as a general rule, largemouth will move up with the water as it rises. One of the first things I usually look for is clean water, and that can be a rare thing during high times on the river. The main problem with high water is that there’s soooo many places for the fish to go. If you can find steep banks were the bass can only go vertical and NOT horizontal with the water, you’ll generally have better luck finding them. Hope this makes sense

Hey guys this is all great advice. I would agree that there is so much more water to fish, the fish can really spread out. Also holding a spot in the current can make things difficult along with keeping a good feel on what your lure is doing.
