Pool 10 Tuesday

Spent Tuesday on pool 10. We picked a great day to be on the water. Very little wind, and gradually increasing temperatures. Early to mid-morning fishing was soft. Stopped at two smally spots with a fish per spot. Both nice around 2-1/2 to 3 lbs. The next few hours were pretty slow with water temperatures almost everywhere around 53-55 degrees. Around noon when the sun had warmed the back waters to around 58-60 degrees we found fish in slow moving or dead water. The average fish was around 2 lbs with the largest being 3 lbs. WOOD, WOOD, and more WOOD is where we found them and they wanted something with a large profile. Smaller spinner baits did not work as well as larger ones. Just a run down of the day.

Thanks for the report. Definitely right on on the larger profile, but I will have to give the spinner baits a work out, because they didn’t leave my tackle bag very much lately. I did threw some microspins yesterday, but like you said our bigger fish came on heavier head and 6″ plus twister tail. I might spend some time on pool 10-12 in the next couple of days so if you get out I look forward to your next report. The Iowa State tournament is May 1st & 2nd out of Prairie Du Chien so Pool 10 will be pretty crowded this next weekend if your headed that way. FYI.
