Just curious how everybody likes to fish heavy winds?? (Like today: 30-40+)? If boat control allows it, I try to fish the front to lee side of points….

    Thoughts? Comments?

My choice would be to stay home and drink beer…it’s a little less frustrating!!

Anchor, drift, or get in the protected backwaters.

If they are protected, how are you going to get in them.

Did you see the Freezecast for this weekend?
Nice…I give up, you will find me at the bottom of a bottle somewhere.

two weeks ago sunday i fished pool 8 in those vicious winds in my flat. It was rough but I stuck some real nice smallies on the windward side of some sand flats. I’ve always liked the wind as far as targeting fish goes. Fishing in it sucks with two people in the boat, but it can be managed.

Jeremy Crawford, are you talking about drifting and casting or drifting and dragging like the tech. coming out of the great lakes, because when I see standings and the report on the tourny,it says it was won by drifting and non of the big publications seem to want to do stories on this tech. http://www.teamsupremetournaments.com

this saturday morning is going to be interesting im giong to wearing every piece of warm clothes that i have and im even going to bring my snowmobile helmet it is suppose to be 32 deg. at blast off time for the k-fan. i hope the wind isnt to bad, but if its any thing like normal it will be blastin’. we have a few spots on the lake that are almost impossible to fish in a strong wind. the gut in front holds the boat and the guy in the back fishes. so i guess the best way to fish the wind for us is to take turn NOT fishing. GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ARE GOING TO BE ON THE WATER THIS WEEKEND AND BE SAFE!!!

I love it for bass fishing – every tournament morning, even if the forecast is calm and clear, I pray for wind – and not a wimpy wind – I know I will catch fish in those conditions, even if I didn’t have much opportunity to pre-fish.

Its all about boat control and how you can fish with the conditions you are faced with. If I can find an area that the wind plays to my advantage I use it. In really big wind, yep I drag baits around doing the best I can do.

I live on a lake in southeast WI and fish from a boat with no trolling motor when the wind is blowing I set up to drift over spots and fish with search baits. Spinner baits and cranks. I usually find find the fish concentrated in certain areas. Drop the anchor and continue with fast baits. I have tried slowing down but almost always find the fish high in the water chasing bait. Just my experience!

Put the little motor up a bit, play the wind & cast your off.

I fish the eddies in bays around the corner of the wind, & I just hunt around.

Usually I just fish like normal, & if I find them, I ask myself where they’d be in the bay when the wind’s not blowing.

Then, if that’s not working, I drink alot of ginger ale, fart & look at girls .

    Later ,
