Well Smallmouth in last two days came from 6inches to 18 feet of water. Largemouth in 2 feet or less. Dinks must have gone into hiding, because 2.5 to 4#s has been all we get right now. Texas Rigged worms and Texas rigged grubs/fluttertails. Purples/rootbeers/motor oils 1/8 or 16th oz weight

Okay so I was supposed to be in a Walleye tourney today, but I rounded a corner, tied to a tree and tossed out my walleye jig and Slam(18.5″ SM), Slam(18″ SM),Slam(17.25 LM),Slam(18.99999999″ SM),in about 10 casts , and I lost another bigger piggy that just wouldn’t stop tail dancing on the top of the water. I had forgotten what egg bellies looked like , bring on those Bass tourneys. I got out of there since it was obvious the Bass weren’t going to let the walleye beat them to the bait. Ended up with one 19 inch Walleye and a bunch of dinks… Boy somedays I really hate walleye fishing….. also got a 5# cat at my next stop. It wasn’t supposed to be there either…

Only popped one Quality Bass yesterday with some smaller ones to follow up. Customer is going to be here all week and so we did the scenic tour of spots thing and practiced fiiiiiiinessssing until afterenoon. Talked to several boats that fished hard in the Morning and were rewarded, including a 23 inch smallie. Flow and level is making many of the channel locations harder to get down to, and when you do it is obvious that the numbers either aren’t there or aren’t biting. The fish are really pretty scattered in general and I suspect the continued up and down temps and weather over the next few days isn’t gonna help very much. Timber is holding at least as many fish as rocks right now, and it appears a lot more.. Tubes, Texas, Jig and tail, and God forbid… live bait are all catching fish now with a noticeable decline in the trap and crank bite.

BUT HEY WE HAVE SO MANY BASS AND SUCH A GREAT FISHERY ON POOLS 7,8,9 THAT EVEN IN LESS THAN GREAT CONDITIONS MANY N ICE FISH ARE BEING CAUGHT.

I’m gonna head down to Iowa for a few days of personal fishing so sorry if I don’t repond to any questions for 3-4 days.

Not sure whether this belongs under walleye or bass forum, but I guess I’ll put it on both.

I don’t ever remember things,(temps, etc), coming together to put the walleye’s hard move to the wingdams, the sauger spawn, and the heart of the smallmouth run coming all together at the same time but “BROTHER” it has happened. I have to say that it actually hurts to raise my arms right now. At one point I counted over 15 casts without the lure coming back fishless.

Park on any wingdam or shallow rocks that you can get your baits down on and just drag them over the top and wam. wam, wam, wam… Tons of smallies almost all keepers up to just over three pounds,(at least today), many keeper walleye,(15-17 inch), saugers and yes even a bucketmouth here and there(biggest BM was 18 inches).

The story wouldn’t be complete without the set-up. 6’6′ medium spinning rod and reel, 6lb Stren Hi-Vis, and crayfish brown Mizmo Tube(salted and garlicy ofcourse), on Taylor Tackle current cutter tube jighead. Walleye seemed to love them as much as the bass. You could sure tell when the juice was running out though. Just light pickups and drops when the taste was gone. Put a new one on and wam…right back to the action.

Want to apologize to the guys with the Ranger…if you don’t want to get schooled don’t stick your head so far into the classroom. Sorry guys I had to rub it in a little.
I know you guys read this forum and the way my tourney season has been going so far I need as much brain edge,(psych), as I can get. See you guys in a couple of weeks at the BWS.
