    2 questions-

first, which knot does everybody use to tie a mono or fluorocarbon leader to a braided line?

also, anybody use painted spinner bait blades on the river? which color? any success?

    thanks.

Hey bb – The good ol’ bloodknot will do the trick !!

Yes I do use colored blades ! I’ll use a chartreuse in spring or muddy water conditions and a white blade in late summer/fall when they forage on shinners/shad. I also always use a small “red” blade as the inside blade on my twin spins. As far as metal colors go, I really like a “copper” blade in the spring, and go to nickle as their forge changes to swim’n stuff.

thanks, i have had some trouble with tying the blood knot on the braids, i guess i just need to be patient but i was looking for a quick fix. (the braid seems to pull off the mono and not settle into the nice “rings”that compress on each other.

    Bassbaron:

I will use a small #10 or #12 barrel swivel to attach vanish to superlines.

Tie the superline on with a palomar knot and the florocarbon with a Trilene knot and you should be good to go.

The only drawback to using a swivel is the leader can’t be much longer than 3 feet because it becomes awkward to cast.

    Good luck
