Over the past few weeks we had been hearing a lot about Pool 4 and Red Wing HOGEYEZ. As a result my buddy Dave and I decided to head up and see what the fuss was about. We started the day out @ Sun-up and launched from Everetts Resort… By Mid-morning we had a couple decent eyez to show for our efforts but nothing like the action Alma had reserved for us a few days earlier. With the crowd starting to grow in Red Wing and the thoughts about the action down south on Pool 5 we decided to pull the pin on Red Wing. Boy, am I glad we did!! Instead of searching for that Illusive Walleye during High Sun we decided to switch our attention over to “Smallies in Shallows”. We pitched sunkin wood in 2′ – 6′ of water and had instint action. Much to my amazement the first pitch Dave made he got hammered and the rest is history, a 21″ Inch Smallie. After some congrats etc we pitched shorline for about another 1.5 hours and had at least 1/2 dozen Smallies 17″ and over range. The picture below is Dave with a 21″ 6+ Pound Bronze Back and also a 17″ for comparison purposes.
