I know this is a bass forum but everybody seems pretty helpful here and besides there is no Pike forum. Where should a guy look to find Northerns this time of year? I read your reports and it seems like you guys catch quite a few Northerns on a pretty consistent basis while looking for bass. If I were to target them, what suggestions would you give… structure, locations, techniques, etc.? I’ve heard about good Northern fishing after ice out but have never experienced it myself. I know some of you have a dislike for Northerns and I suppose I would too if they stole my lures but I’ve always thought they were a lot of fun whenever I’ve caught one.

    Thanks for your help,

    Boone

boone i fish a lake alot with muskies in it and i pull my bait away from them alot (unless its the new state record i have seen a few times and been documented by a local biologist) and they seem to prey in the weed beds near the drop offs now this time of year look for shallow water 2 to 5 foot crappies etc seem to migrate there to get warm and northerns and muskie seem to be there 2 either looking for food or warmer water

id say find the warmest water you can find near a cut in a channel near the bank and no current
