Skeeter & BASS.

A few weeks back, I was sitting it my living room, minding my own bee’s wax when I was told that Skeeter was ending its relationship with BASS. I sat up and listened & wondered. Now it seems to be the case.

On http://www.bassfan.com in the article entitled He’s Baaaaaaack Ray Scott Returns As BASS ‘Spiritual Leader,’ it reads “Along with a few other companies, Scott has had long-time endorsement deals with Triton Boats and Mercury Marine, which soon will be the sole boat and motor sponsors of BASS.”

“‘The sole boat…'” “‘sponsors of BASS.'” Hmmm. I’m intrigued.

    Any thoughts out there?

    Thanks,

Seeing as I own a Skeeter and also sponsored my opinions might be slightly biased.
I think it is good for Skeeter to venture off from BASS and look into new oppurtunities such as FLW( Even though Ranger has the market there) and also focusing on their own tournament trail that is already in existence.

My only concern is this… Will Skeeter boats be able to get a foot in on major tournament trails?

Does the brand of boat “official” to a tour really influence someone’s decision on what to buy? It is the furthest thing from my mind when buying a boat.

No I don’t believe it does, atleast it didn’t influence me on what I bought.

The whole reason I even care if Skeeter sponsors any tournament trails is the politics side of it.

Sadly enought you get priority entry into any FLW related tournament if you own a Ranger. I think that sucks because it doesn’t allow other anglers to get into tournament trails without working their way through the ranks. Some guys just don’t have the time or patience to work through that. Just one man’s opinion

skeeter seen the writing on the wall for a long time, just look at the endorsements that they have made in the past year of “big” names, john murray, mark davis…. just to name a couple that “all of a sudden” switched boat sponsorships. think about it, davis being with cat for what, like 17 years, you don’t just all of a sudden jump up one morning and say, you know what, i want to drive a skeeter this year! Now, do you think the monies being spent to cater BASS went to these guys instead? I think so, money well spent by skeeter, it gives them more coverage than what BASS was giving them.

isnt it funny how sponser ships work i was watching proteam journal the other day bass cat is sponser ing it but 3 weeks ago mike wurm was plugging ranger in a product show case lol
also denny brauer is sponserd by team diawa every week the show is sponserd by quantum and they didnt plug quantum that week

mark davis switched to skeeter in his words because it didnt pay to run a bass cat no more ( aparently they didnt have bonus programs ) like the ranger cup etc to where if he placed good they paid

i believe i read if ranger sponsers you that they pay all your entry fees humm free boat free entry fees thats better then a free boat

after mark davis won his tournoment this year he made comments on how hard it has been for him to get used to a new boat and said thats one of the prime reasons he was having poor early season performances now that hes used to the new boat he can concentrate on fishing
