Headed out on pool 6 for a few hours this afternoon. The good was there were some bass biting. 19″ & 18″ smallies, an 18″ LM, and several smaller of both. The bad was the wind. Man, I had a heck of a time finding places to get out of that wind, straight up the river. There were some serious whitecaps and that wind just wears you down after while. The ugly was living through one of those outings where EVERYTHING seemed to go wrong from too many snags that wouldn’t give my lures back, a major backlash from a backcast in a tree and a lost spool of line, capped of by breaking my Daiwa Zillion rod while trying to get a small pike unhooked. grrr!

    Dave,

Fished pool 6 a week ago Monday after a big storm. I couldn’t catch a thing, but luckily the relatives I took fishing did. Every walleye we caught, (2)23″ were the biggest, fell to bass lures!
Swimbaits, chatter baits, spinner baits, c-Rigs,…ect

    Never caught a legal bass.

Hope to see you on the river.

Francis, sounds like you guys did pretty well on the walleyes. I haven’t caught a decent eye on pool 6 this year, but I’m getting a few decent bass here and there. A coworker I took fishing a couple weeks ago caught a 20″ smallie on a Mepps. He wore me out with that spinner! (me and my fancy stuff)

I did set a PB on pool 6 with a 42″ pike (swimjig), but no camera or witness, so I won’t even go into it here on the net, but I’ll tell you about it in person some day.

Hi – interesting comment on eyes on bass baits. A weekend ago while fishing around Wabasha didn’t have much luck catching bass on spinner baits but did catch 24″ and 25″ walleyes and missed two more at the side of the boat. 3′ water and within a 20′ square area.
