Well, working on getting a math major then going on and getting a phd in math means I haven’t had a life for a while. the last few weeks have been nuts and so will this week , and after this week is spring break which means I am going fishing somewhere, and if I can avoid yanking those walleyes out of pool 2 or 4 I will. Will the south side of pepin be open or do I have to go further down. Nothing can make me forget about school better then those little brown critters. I don’t need any spots or anything like that I just am wondering where I have to go to get’m. Will I be able to get some in pool 4 or do I have to go further. I go to school college in the twin cities.

Drove the river road last week… Pepin is still solid, but the south area when in narrows is WIDE open… Of course, with the new cold fronts with wind, it sure would be a tough day on the water… You may wish to reconsider your desitination for spring break… Try Daytona, FL… better Bassin’ there!!!!

    Eric,

The Corp of Engineers samples the Pepin ice thickness weekly and last week there was 18″ of ice in most locations. I drove down to the La Couplis yesterday and the wind was taking its toll, but we’re a long ways from prime fishing. The launch ramp was open but ice flows can close it at any time. In a normal year we can get on the smallies by April 1 but I would guess everything will be a week to 10 days late this year. You might have to settle for the walleyes.
