Been having luck with square billed lures lately. Unfortunately not the lures I used Berkley Pitbulls and StrikeKing Kvd lures I had 8 total down to 2 literally the bills broke off casting in open water. I gave some to the wife to see if she had issues she broke the most and she is never rough with lures. So after losing $40 bucks in lures any other recommendations? I want to order some from Tackle warehouse before it’s to late in the season or wherever just nothing around me all sold out. Thanks PS every bass we did catch broke the hooks not impressed. I have one Bandit lure but just can never get bit on it and it does not stay in tune very well.

That’s odd. I’ve used KVD 1.5’s and 2.5’s for years and I can only recall one bill breaking off and never any hooks. I change out my hooks these days and get rid of the stock hooks but never had any issues with them.

I should also add the Berkley Wake bull also fell apart. Mahto for some reason the 2.5 seem to be real good and no issues just the 1.5? But they didn’t want the 2.5 that day go figure frown

I use Bandits and sometimes Strike Kings. Both are decent price. The Bandits are my favorites.

I’m partial to the Hybrid Hunter Jr. size. Pretty aggressive action, and the L-shaped bill seems stouter than most squarebills.

6th Sense Swank77 has the similar L-shaped bill, haven’t tried it but have never broken a bill on the Hybrid Hunter and have banged my share of rocks.

I like the Googan Banger, but my absolute favorite was the Cabela’s Mean Eye. So sad when they got rid of it in the merger.

I like the 6th sense square bills, but I also have some Rapala ones and kvds 1.5 and 2.5. But my daily thrower would be 6th sense.

Odd, I fish the KVD 2.5’s a lot and 1.5 a bit less and never broke any yet. Maybe a bad lot of 1.5’s? Don’t fish those berkleys much. Check out Omniafishing(local company), they have a variety to choose from on their site.

You seem to have really bad luck w your equipment Pike.

May I recommend a voodoo doctor to get rid of that bad energy before you buy anything else new that breaks?
    lol

Surprisingly I went thru some reviews online yes not always accurate but the consensus was that the KVD and Berkleys did break a lot. Yes I have bad luck however I had Chevy Citation, Ford Fairmont and they were the best cars I had and very dependable go figure hah Also had an AMC Matador a beast no power steering best car ever. Many may not know it but my nickname is Lucky

I was thinking the same thing. I can’t remember the last time I broke a crankbait or treble hook, and I fish cranks a lot all year.

This time of the year I like fishing big fat crankbaits. Mann’s C4 is my all time favorite but they stop making them. In the past year I’ve had nice success with KVD 8.0 Magnum.

Has anyone found a preference of the circuit board bills over the standard plastic bills? I know they have a little different action. I haven’t played around enough to come up with a conclusion one way or the other.

If you really want to have some fun tie on a KVD 4.0 and start burning that through weed tops. Hang on. Big bass, big pike, and muskie if they are in the lake you’re fishing. They are the giants like the 8.0 but they are bigger than the 2.5s and I think a really nice size to try and target big bass when they are biting.

Do the old Dt-7 Flat’s count. Ive got a bunch in a box in the garage. Run a bit deep, but they have a square bill.
