    Hello,

Wanted to do some bass fishing before I head back to school. Looking for recommendations on which lake I should devote my 1 day of fishing to. Prefer quality over quantity. 1million pts to anyone who can help me break my 5year drought of 4lb+ bass. and 5million pts to whomever can help me break a lifetime drought of a 5lb bass. Thanks!

Do you have to be in the Alex area? Plenty of lakes in the metro that you can break 4 lbs and even the 5. Heck there has even been some 6’s caught lately.

lol no but I have fished the metro for 10yrs now and haven’t cracked 5lbs yet and 4lbs only once so I figured I’d go further out for better luck (?) D

Joe Scegura (member on this site) is a guide in that area I believe. He is usually pretty responsive to private messages and may send you in the right direction.

Some lakes grow big girls some do not. If you have fished a lake for a couple of years and have not caught a big one move to a different lake. Some lakes with good numbers do not have big fish, some catch and release only lakes do not have big fish (wow right?) Also this time of year and into the fall some techniques will get you big fish while others not as much. So my favorite thing: pithing weedlines with light jigworms can get me big ones in June but starts to wane this time of year and into the fall. Now its more about punch jigs in the slop, froggie in the pads, football jigs out deep and even fat cranks. Good Luck!
