Trying hard to watch & like a game between the Cubs & White Sux.

Having a hard time adjusting to no people in the stands, no background noise, no excitement. To top it off the audio & video is slightly out of sync.

Going to be a long 60 games for me I’m afraid. cry

I’m for this season only to keep the players active and to be able to form good teams for next year. Outside of that, despite what should be a welcome sight of sports being back again, I’m just not interested at all. The season doesn’t matter and it’s not baseball.

Honestly I’m a little surprised. After months of no sports I’d take about anything right now.

i watched a bit the other night yankees vs mets, bizarre, pics of people in the stands, canned noise, I love baseball, will listen to the games on the radio, won’t be the same, wait till next year and the season hasn’t even started

I’m going to take what I can get for now. There is nothing better than a baseball game on in the background on a nice summer evening. Sure miss that.

I’m excited as hell. This is the most unique baseball season of our lifetimes. It won’t be the usual marathon or a war of attrition that the top spenders and their deep rosters as so good at, it’ll be a sprint where one two-week-long slump derails an entire season. Wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see an unorthodox but exciting World Series match-up, like the Twins or Rays vs the Braves or Reds. I don’t think it’ll be Yanks vs Dodgers this time around.

I agree. The shortened season should bring an excitement to the entire season that’s usually not there. Baseball has been so resistant to reducing some of the boredom of long seasons and long games and now their hand is forced and it’s going to be a lot of fun.

I’ve always said the biggest difference between football and baseball isn’t as much in the sport/action itself as it is the rarity. This year the Vikings playing Tom Brady and the new Bucs will be fun, but if they did it 6 or 7 days a week with no urgency it wouldn’t be as much fun.

    We watched it tonight.
We are a house divided when it comes to the only pro sport that we give a shitzzz about.
    The good guys win!

By the way there was piped in crowd noise, so Dutch, what was your question?
Wow, Wooow wait a minute Dutch, did you hear what what I said a nano second before?

    The Good Guys Won!!

I may not get to say this much in the coming years, “SOX RULE!!” yay

Could care less about the crowds honestly. Sure it’s ideal, but when we’ve been forced to have no sports for 5 months I’ll take real games with no fans any day of the week. I’m pumped it’s about to start and I think the 60 game season is going to be pretty darn fun. I don’t think we’ll notice the fact that there aren’t fans after about a week of games honestly.

I wonder how hockey will handle all the swearing by the players when there will be no crowd noise to drown it out.

Last night’s Sox-Cubs game had crowd noise although not very loud. Likely they turn up when season starts. I am Sox fan and after 102 games we will still be undefeated. Go Sox!!!

From what I’ve seen MLB is supporting taking a knee during the National Anthem.

Basketball will be an even bigger adventure, they have even considered a time delay.

In other news the astros are getting hit by pitches. Remember 14 years ago when they stole signs and won the World Series?

I heard on the radio there may be a more-than-usual delay for this very reason.

More local fields nowadays were banning seeds, and with this covid situation it very well might kill seeds in the game forever?

I get it, kinda gross literally spitting every few seconds but still, those lil things are delicious.

Well I’m thinking the ball is still juiced. 2 HR’s in the first inning of the First game of the year. jester

They would be foolish not to juice the balls this season. They are going to have a lot of sports to compete with for tv time.

They should go ahead and play the Chinese national anthem.

Baseball’s protocols and strategies are getting tested early. 14 Marlins’ players/staff have tested positive and they have had to cancel/postpone their home opener. I am sure the rest of the league and the NFL are watching closely to see how it works out

    I blame Jeter

Rumors of a possible cancelling of the season. Worst case scenario right now. Phillies Yankees game probably will be cancelled tonight as well as Yankees would be going into the clubhouse the Marlins were just in.

I’d think it has to be really odd for the players to play in empty parks. I assume they feed off of the energy to some extent.

Things are not looking good if they can’t get through Opening Weekend without a major outbreak. Cancellation is a real possibility. Commissioner Manfred can drop the gavel at any time he chooses, per the contract with MLBPA.
