With these VMC tungsten ice flies I rarely have to tip them with bait

I’ve been fishing these vmc jigs all winter and they are great. I usually tip them but next time I’ll run them plain.

I always have a glow colored one in the smallest size rigged on my ultralight for when the bite gets tough

This guy that dwarfs my hand couldn’t resist the same offering today while doing some Mississippi backwater exploring

I have only been out a few times all year but the only thing I have used all season is a chartreuse fly tipped with two red spikes. If it works why change?

My favorite go-to panfish lure! Almost always have good luck without bait too!

    Nice fish, Badger!

I don’t think I’ve even tried fishing these naked. I always tip these with a single spike. I’ll have to give it a shot today.

Got my first few this year. They’ve worked like a charm each time I’ve used em. Orange Chart Glow is my favorite. Lost one to a pike on Monday. Always tipped with 2 spikes, might have to remove the bait and see how it works.

THE CHARTREUSE ICE FLY HAS BEEN MY GO TO SINCE I FORGOT MY BAIT AND HAD TO FISH IT NAKED! AT TIMES IT IS FANTASTIC. ADD A WAXY AND IT GO TO GO.

Never found a reason to tip these. Also really helps if you have one of those cold snap picks to remove the jig, pliers or hemostats are the death of these baits.
