    Well Mrs. Bucky won…

I guess we are going to check out Stapleton and George Strait at U.S. Bank this weekend after stumbling into some good seats for less than they were going for weeks ago. I already negotiated the whole thing being my treat in exchange for the long hours she never complains about with me doing side gigs and whatnot. Sparing no expenses and looking for a good time, what bar/restaurant would you recommend for a few drinks and an appetizer beforehand? My wife loves country music (mainly Stapleton), plenty of cold beer, the occasional bourbon old fashioned, good food…and still is about 110# running circles around everyone else our age.

I’m sure everything will be busy with the crazy demand for concerts, but ideally it’d be nice to find a spot that you don’t have to crowd surf in and out of (a long shot). I’d prefer to park someplace close to US Bank if possible.

…”Fire Away” as Stapleton would say

Pog Mahone’s is solid bar food. Located about a block away from the stadium on Washington Ave.

First of all, I’ve seen both of them in concert and they put on a great show! Old school style without much theatrics, just the band and a microphone. If $ isn’t a huge factor, Manny’s is the best restaurant in MN imo. Otherwise something really good, but less expensive are Red Cow and Smack Shack in the North Loop. Red Cow has the best burger around imo, and Smack Shack Lobster Roll is legit. These are not right next door, but walkable from Manny’s and a cheap Cab/Uber from the North loop.

I’d echo everything Big Werm mentioned in terms of restaurants. He clearly knows mpls food well.

Hell’s Kitchen for breakfast the next day would also be a good choice. I’ve never had anything else there besides breakfast but it’s a favorite of mine.

    X2
    Manny’s.
5 star food, but their servers are world class.

The South American steak place is great.
Foga da chow. I know I’m not even close on the spelling.

I’m gonna kinda pigtail off bears and say Bunkers. Early crowds at most places downtown, NE, uptown etc are always good and fun. Later in the night is when the crap comes out, but that’s literally been the case for 20 years.

My idea of apps and fun isn’t going to a pinky up establishment and getting a $20 chicken wing. Give me good food, not great but good, with fun crowds me and the folks I go with usually end up mingling in and we all have to drag ourselves out to go wherever we were supposed to be going originally.

Haven’t been downtown to a concert so I can’t say but I would look into the transit line that connects right to the stadium. Could find a nice place to go miles away and just cruise right in and out when concert is over. Sitting in a parking ramp for hour and a half isn’t fun at midnight. Ubers might be real tough to get at that time and place.

My wife and I just ate at Manny’s on Saturday. For my money there are places to get better food for less money. Service was top notch and the food was good…but not worth what they charge. It’s far from the best meal I’ve had and I don’t even think it’s the best steak that I’ve had.

That’s saddening, I’m sorry to hear that.

If you want the best steak in town go to Murray’s. Manny’s burger is actually their best thing on the menu imho. Don’t get me wrong, I think Manny’s is great but it’s reputation is better than the food.

If you stay downtown go to breakfast at Keys the next morning.

All good suggestions above. If you want more of a bar feel that is easily walkable to the stadium I would go to Crooked Pint.
