Hey, Ladies and Gents! The brother, brother-in-law and I went to Polk County’s Balsam Lake on Saturday. We drilled nine holes in varying depths from 15-20 to 3-6. In the lower depths, we set big shiners on a treble hook with a little weight and, on the outer holes, we jigged with maggots. Caught three perch in the outer holes one after another, but then it dropped way off.
We weren’t there at ideal fishing time, though. We got out on the ice at about 12:30 and only stayed until three. Brother-in-law promsed sis that we would be back by seven and we still wanted to hit the bars in Somerset and Star Prairie and Hudson on the way back (He’s gotta dump that tractor ). If we coulda stayed later, we think we had the pike technique down and would hooked one or two.
We’ll be back out some time soon!
Stiff lines and safe fishing to all!
