I made a new recipe tonight! 😋 And beleive it or not, this was my first time cooking bacon! EVER! I’ve eaten bacon numerous times in my life – I just wasn’t the one who cooked it. 🤷‍♀️ This turned out great!

    Bacon Cheddar Ranch Pinwheels

    Ingredients:
    1/2 lb rotisserie chicken, shredded
    8 oz. cream cheese, softened
    1/2 cup Ranch dressing
    1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
8 pieces bacon, cooked and chopped
2 tablespoons green onion or chives, chopped
3 large flour tortillas or 6 smaller tortillas

    Instructions:
~ In a small mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, cream cheese and Ranch, mix until smooth.
~ Stir in cheddar cheese, bacon, and chopped green onions.
~ Spread in a generous layer over tortillas.
~ Roll tortillas tightly and slice into 1 inch pieces.

    They look really good Sharon!

I’m guessing they aren’t real good for you?
I wonder if there’s a way to substitute a few things that wouldn’t harden my arteries quite so fast?

Ba…no worse than last night’s beer and Crown!

I definitely didn’t picture myself cooking as much as I am now! My late husband Billy LOVED to cook and he was a master at it… so I had no need to cook for nearly 20 years of my life, and before that my parents and sister always cooked. I cook now out of mere necessity and some day I hope to regain my beloved status as dish washer, rather than chef. smirk
I’ll always be a baker, however!

Fried it on the stove. I like crispy bacon – like real crispy. Exploding into bacon ash in your mouth as you bite into it, crispy! LOL I don’t think you really can get it that crispy in the oven.

    Very tasty looking Sharon!

I made it in the oven twice now, and it’s been exactly like you want it!

Much easier to get all the bacon to a consistent crispness. Whether you ike it nearly raw or burned to a crisp.

Sis, I need to get you some homemade bacon. So way better than store bought. Way better flavor, little to no pop splatter and you know what it in it! Pork belly, salt and sugar. But can you pronounce the indegerents? YEP!

Bacon really can get that crispy when cooked in the oven? I’m skeptical but I’ll give it a try next time! Do you guys just use a cookie sheet?

I used a cookie cooling rack over a cookie sheet. Was melt in your mouth bacon! 🥓🥓 Much better than rooftop cast iron skillet bacon….🤷‍♂️

Cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil. 425 in a regular oven. Check at 20 mins. just let it go until it’s as crispy as you want. 400 in a convection oven. Check at 15 mins.

It really does and easy clean up. I put tin foil over a backing sheet and bake my bacon. I love the smell of bacon but not an hour after cooking it so this way also helps on the smell.

    X2 on baking

I’ve been baking my bacon for 20 years now. Super easy and super easy clean up. I like my bacon chewy the FW likes it ash style like you. I just take mine out of the cookie sheet early and put it back in until it becomes ash. Win-win.

I belive that’s why they call in bacon and not fryon. wink

rotflol rotflol Okay, you guys have me believing in bacon in the oven… now to put it to the test one of these days!

I was just going to ask for time and temp. Thanks, Pat!

Yep. 400 degrees-ish, 20 minutes or so. I line the baking sheet with foil, keep an eye on it and flip in partway through. Or on the grill, same way. -)

I will use the oven to cook my bacon if I have a choice. Expressly the thicker bacon.

Okay guys I was totally skeptical that baking bacon in the oven could result in crispy bacon… well my buddy Dan (Pailofperch) stopped by yesterday with some delicious bacon and now I am a beleiver!!!

425 degrees in my oven for 20 min on a cooking rack over a cookie sheet and the bacon was just perfect! Not greasy and it had a great crisp! 😋😋😋

This will definitely be how I make bacon going forward! And as KP said, the bacon scent does dissipate quicker with baking than frying on the stove. That’s a definite benefit! 👍

The one thing about baking bacon it will leave you a dirty oven after a couple of months. I use a tin foil lined pan that is around 3″ deep. I put 2 silicone baking sheets over the top. Also need a little tin foil strip to hold them up in the middle. Lets the bacon cook up and no grease splatter in the oven.

    Mmmm. That Bacon was fantastic!

Denny O, FWIW, it was a good thick cut bacon from a small town butcher. Very good quality bacon! 👍
