Hahaha it’s crazy that they allowed that stuff back in the day. Lou Nanne was talking about this night on KFAN the other day, and basically the Bruins took some liberties in the last game and the league didn’t do anything. So Lou (GM at the time) told the Commissioner whatever happened next game was on him, if the league won’t do anything we will.

Different times for sure. I remember that game was all the talk for a couple of days ahead of time. Everybody knew what was coming.

A lot of backstory to that game. Boston had beaten the Stars like 30 something straight times. Not only beat them scoring but beat them physically all over the ice. Glen Sonmor basically said enough is enough if the refs are not going to police it we will fight back. Couple of guys like Steve Payne didn’t really believe in that stuff were the first couple to drop the gloves. I am not sure Steve Payne ever got into a fight before that. They end up losing that game but later went in to win the series. Glen even got in a fight with a fan. That was the penalty record until like 2004 I believe. Yeah old time hockey Eddie Shore type of stuff. rotflol

Reminds me of the joke, ” I was at a fight the other night, and a hockey game broke out!”

Remember being in the old met when we took on the Blackhawks. Bench clearing brawl before the game started, Dino Ciccarelli was the 1st off our bench, hundreds of minutes in penalties before it started. smash

Many years ago I worked at NWA, they always hired sports people who no longer played their games. I worked with Zoo, Sharps, Cookie Holmes, Jarvis Redwine, and several others. Good people and good friends, normal friends who enjoyed life just as I do.

I don’t remember a lot from my childhood, but I remember that game, especially the first 7 seconds.
