Back water perch

    I love catching these girls on the Mississippi. ..
    And this one is a little girl at 13″. I have seen them as big as 16″ !!!

    That big river can grow some amazing perch. Pool 5 has delivered a few real pig perch to me over the years.

    I think most areas are still good… with the river up to 11.75 today most current areas have to be diminishing fast

    Dave, Nice fish!!!! How deep and what types of areas have you been finding them? I was down on P8 a few weeks ago and pounded the jumbos in 4fow. Nothing like jumbos tugging on a 4.5ft inline rod with 3lbs test!

    Most of my areas have been 6 fow now.. usually 3-4 fow but with the river higher than normal I have been all over the place now

    Also got some nice ones in the backwaters of pool 8 a couple weeks ago . Best thing was , the week after I was out on pool 9 in the boat catching Walleye’s. Crazy weather , but I like it !!

    X2 on that! Especially when your advertising that your over your limit! Looks to be 28 perch there to me? Keep advertising I’m sure someone will come looking!

    Do you guys use any deadsticks like tip-downs or Finicky Fooler tip-ups for these jumbos?

    I counted as well. 2 guys I am assuming. Maybe 1 guy and pushed the 3 over the limit down the hole. See it all the time.

    Man , you guys sure jump to conclusions . Had enough anglers there , nobody was close to there limit . As far as advertising spots , there’s a lot of backwaters in these pools on the river , most of which no one can even get to. Have at it . And yes I keep fish when I want to , also release a lot .
