Auger Extnsion Issue – Strikemaster

I have a strikemaster auger and have the strikemaster auger extension for it. There is too much play in the connection between the auger and extension, so much, that it won’t cut at all. Has anyone had this issue and if so, how did you fix it? I’m thinking of wrapping some duct tape around the extension before I connect it to the auger. Just seemed a little hokey to have to do this.

I noticed that on my Big Volt this past weekend. It had quite a wobble and seemed like it only cut on about half the rotation until I got it started well enough to be able to put a little pressure on it. Has the 10″ chipper bit.

Yes, the wobble was so bad on mine it wouldn’t even cut. Took the extension off and cut like butter. Auger is a 10″.

Try using electric tape as a bushing. I don’t use the extension much on my 10 inch Honda, but a friend of mine had this issue with his electric strike master and fixed it quick with a little tape. Good luck!

…or duct tape. (As stated) hokey or not, its a quick and cheap fix.

Noted! I’m going to try this since I’ll be heading to Red this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

Another thing to try is make sure the bolt heads are on the same side of the shaft. If there is play it should put the drill back I the center of the shaft rotation.
