I bought a Polaris ranger for ice fishing and in the process of rigging it up.I have narrowed auger rack to digger all season or the Jaws of ice,I like the adaptability of the digger, but also like the solid hold of the Jaws, really leaning towards the digger for versatility, but have read it doesn’t hold as solid.Augers would be Strikemaster 24 or Eskimo shark.
What would your choice be,or would it be something else.planing on mounting on box with ranger adapters.
    Thanks for any input.

Jaws of ice are nice. Problem is they have no customer service. None. I had a part rattle out and called and emailed several times and got no response.

I bought a gun rack for my new atv to use for an auger and have been happy with it. I’d post a link but this site won’t allow it. If you google atv tek you will find something similar to what I use.

I have a digger and never had an issue. I do however use an extra bungy strap on the drill end. Make sure the latch is real tight too. Buddies all have them and they I think only had an issue once. Plus they have great customer service. After they bought theirs they had updated them with a little L bracket to hold the head from spinning. They sent it out to them without them even asking about it because they registered their racks.

    Less is more.
Too many moving parts and fasteners on JOI.
As already mentioned, things can fall apart.

Digger Auger holder is the best by far imo…they have great customer service too!

My 40 volt auger fits perfectly in the box of my ranger. No way I’d ever travel with any of my stuff exposed to the elements. Probably ok if your just bouncing around on smaller lakes on tires but I have tracks and we go long distances. That snow dust will pack into anything that isn’t completely enclosed.

Yep, tracks can cause blizzard like conditions. What are you using for enclosure on your box?

A cover/case of some sort for the auger head works wonders to keep the elements off. I happen to have had a old dog bed that had a zippered covering on it. It turned out that this zippered covering fit my ice auger head like it was made for it.

Its a crew cab with tracks so alot of stuff will ride in backseat, but yeah when traveling distance will tarp and put cover over powerhead.
Most trips will be chasing walleyes in the bays so not alot of distance to travel.

My Defender also has tracks and I carry the auger in the box. Pull the ice shack which has most of my gear in it and with it not being a crew model I carry my electronics and minnow box in the cab, which is ok if it’s just me in the cab. Thinking of buying a RotoKap to enclose the box which would allow me to carry more stuff in the box and not get snow dust on everything. The RotoKap would also be nice in the summer when trail riding to keep dust/dirt off of everything.

I would bite the bullet and install a topper if you can swing the $.
It keeps everything organized and high and dry even if you are running tracks. I made this one with 3 doors and side compartments on each side to store rods and tip-ups.
I can fit a lite flight with a 12″ extension on it within the box.

This morphed from which auger carrier to how to modify your side by side with tracks to keep your gear organized and snow dust free LOL

Digger is so easy and simple and reliable. I’ve had one for years that’s now outlived 3 different snowmobiles – carried an auger thousands of miles with no failures. The latch is all rusted up and a few bolts replaced but it keeps working. Most buddies are using the digger too and the only failures I see is the entire carrier coming off the sled, not the auger off the carrier… user error.
