I have a Polaris 700 and have purchased a set of tracks for it. Since class 1 ATV’s can only be a certain weight and are equipped with flotation tires by DNR definition, I am wondering how to license it so when a CO stops me somewhere on a lake where he thinks I shouldn’t be able to get , that he can’t cite me for an improperly licensed vehicle. Has anyone here got this figured out with a solid regulartory reference I can refer to?

You will have to lic. it as a class 2 also because with the tracks installed your machine will weigh over 900lbs just look in the rule book.

I don’t think that’s the right answer. Class 2’s are by definition on flotation tires too. Further they are defined to weigh between 1000 and 1800 lbs. Nothing about tracks there and I have had a CO tell me tracks are not the same at flotation tires per the rule book…. So I’m wondering if I need to register as an ORV?
