Long Ride-good and not so good

My wife and I took a long one Sat. Between getting momemtarily lost, ie extra 30 miles, and almost running one sled out of gas it was a good 190 miles. The not so good part was sledding past a fatlity scene from the night before up by Iron River with evidence still on the ground. That put a damper on the day for me and still bothers me. One day the risk will outway the enjoyment and I will be done trail riding.

I hate to hear that, Mike. Every time I’m on a trail and come to a corner I can’t help but worry about who’s coming around the corner from the other direction.

You nailed it. I am always in the lead and I do the same thing. Seems like there is a close call on almost every ride. That is why I think night riding on the trails is far safer. At least from head-ons.

In that area of the Tri-County Corridor, you have to stop almost every mile. According to the SPPP, alcohol was a factor. Never mix it up. Be safe.

When we used to all have sleds (still got mine) we would go on trips about every other weekend.. we preferred riding at night, for the exact corner issues your talking about… alot easier to ride at night and see the other guys a coming… Been a great year for trail riders this year

Pretty much the only reason I hung it up. Saw a few scenes in my riding days that pretty much sent me a reminder at every corner. Hopefully someday I get back into it.
