What is the opinion? Do all manufactures have one? How many are running one?

    Brian –

My buddy has had the AC Turbo for a couple of years and loves it!

I was running a 06 yaamaha attack for the last few years and will be buying another 4 stroke yamaha next year. All of the manufactures are making a few now. Arctic cat and skidoo finally put some effort into designing a new motor that would make some hp.

Only experience I have with them is from the 2007 Yamaha Phazar Mountain Lite my father in law had (he just traded it in this year). That sled was no good for starting in cold weather and I would not catch myself out on the ice with it if I knew temps were going below 0. I was up there last month and we could not get it started one morning at his house, but it did start later that day once it warmed up. The two strokes fired right up.

Not sure how other brands do in cold weather?

I own a Yamaha Vector, and would never go back to a 2-stroke. Outstanding gas mileage, no adding expensive 2-stroke oil and lots of torque! All brands offer them from mild to wild with the turbos. Never had a problem with mine starting, even down to -30 degrees.

My Uncle has a 2009 Artic Cat four stroke. I believe its an 1100. This is our third winter of using it on Lake of the Woods and it works great. It always starts with the turn of a key. He had an AC Prowler that never started when it was below zero. We had to heat it up in the morning and then start it every couple of hours during the day. The sled is the exact opposite. It has a ton of power too. We’ve had some other sleds breakdown, so a couple times its been 3 guys on the snowmobile with another snowmobile and 2 portables in tow. It has heated seats and handwarmers for the driver and passenger. I’m not sure what the price tag was, but it sure is sweet that its there for me to use anytime.

I run an ’02 Cat 660 touring. IMO, it’s the best ice fishing sled and that’s what I primarily use it for. Quiet, comfortable and hauls a lot of gear. It’s a pulling machine with lots of torque. I’ve seriously thought about updating to a turbo machine, but they are tough to find (used).
