    Hello –

I have a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI. I am wondering what the normal RPM’S should run at? WIthout towing anything and driving around 25-30 mph the RPM’S are around 4,200. I looked in the manual and it doesn’t say anything so I am hoping someone around here could help. Thanks in advance.

I am going off memory here, but that rpm sounds about right. My machine is a 08 500 carb, shouldn’t make any difference though.

I Have a 07 700 EFI. When it is cold it runs about 1000-1200 RPMS until it warms up. After I have driven it for a bit it will idle about 800-900 RPMS. That is including going to a high altitude about 8000-10000 ft. Most wheelers that go that high will have a hard time staying running at a idle. With the EFI their is no problem. The biggest thing I have found on mine is let it idle for about 5 minutes to warm up in the winter befor you start riding and about 2-3 minutes in the summer. Polaris makes a great machine with little problems. Just take care it and they will out do most machines.
