    Hi Guys,

I am looking for an ATV and found a 06 Sportsman 800 EFI for $4500. It has 2500 miles. I have never owned an ATV before, but this sounds high. Any thoughts? Also looking for some other ideas as far as where to look for used ATV’s.

    Thanks,

    FDR

That seems high to me also given that mileage. I watched craig’s list and ebay a lot before buying mine. Personally I’d be leary of anything with over 500 -1000 miles. Find one that some guy used to plow his driveway with or needs the money.

That seems a little high priced. It’s tough buying a used for wheeler. I just bought one off craigslist. It was a 2007 Polaris 500 EFI H.O. It came with a winch and plow. 250 miles for $4,900. It looks brand new. Used to plow driveway and some ice fishing. Just be careful when buying used. I would not be scared to buy one with more than 1,000 miles. That is nothing for miles on a 4 wheeler this day and age. Good luck.

I don’t know about the price but don’t be afraid of the miles. My neighbor is in his 60’s and farms with one leg. His only transportation is his four wheeler. The first one had 3500 miles on it in the first year. Fifteen years later he traded for a new one and is still driving 3200 a year on it! Only thing he baught was new tires.

I had a 4 wheeler, traded it in on a Polaris Ranger. Get a Ranger, Mule, Cub Cadet, etc. Way more versitle, nicer to ride, you’ll use it much more. Plow snow, haul wood, brush, dirt, deer hunting and even fishing. Plus they are road legal.

Thats high. Looking in the paper today you can buy a new Polaris 500 for a couple hundred bucks more.

    Jami,

What dealership was this? Did it include a winch and plow? I would think that a 500 would work just fine.

    Thanks,

Nope no winch or plow. You can negotiate these into the price, I’d call around, often you can have a winch added for pretty cheap if they are offering the winch promotions.

It is best to be patient. I spent months looking on Craigslist and other places. Finally found an ’04 600 Sportsman with winch, plow and windshield with under 300 miles for about the cost of the machine your looking at.
