This past spring I ended up with a 1998 Arctic Cat Pantara 580 EFI, My major question is which oil do I need for it? This is my first Snowmobile and so I am clueless. Thanks guys!

I did a little bit of searching around and couldnt find the answer – however I did find manuals for that specific sled for around 12.99. That would be my recommendation – you can also do a downloadable one so that you always have it incase something else happens.

You could get by with almost any 2-stroke oil in that machine. That being said you should lean towards one targeted at sleds. It would be nice to know what was used in it but I’ll bet he used dino oil. If so Phillips Injex is an excellent cost effective brand. If it were me I would use Amsoil Injector. I dont think that sled has exhaust valves but I could be mistaken. If it does use Amsoil Interceptor. If you are really worried about it go to an AC dealer and buy what they recommend.

Thank you for the help guys, I wondered if amsoil was an option or not. I plan to use it mainly for ice fishing so it won’t have a ton of miles on it. Thanks again!

2-stoke oil is one of those things you will get a million opinions on but you cannot go wrong with Amsoil and it is readily available. That I know from many years experience on high-performance sleds.

    Another vote for Amsoil.
The “HP Injector” is what I used in my prior non-exhaust valve sleds, like that 580cc. You can use the more expensive “Interceptor” for that model, but it’s kinda overkill.

Not sure if you need Amsoil Interceptor for that machine. I don’t think they have APVs. I know I about fainted when I ordered up the Interceptor for my sleds this year. That stuff is not cheap.

I was looking for it on-line today. Aropund $37 a gallon. That’s the best price I’ve seen to date. I like Al’s Marine and I’m not saying anything bad about them. However I paid $41.50 plus tax for a gallon when the snow flew. I needed oil in a pinch.

I’m checking now. My old dealer not answering. He may no longer be alive!! Trying to locate another dealer close by to see what they sell it for. I’ll post here. My tanks are full and I have a half gallon so I am good for now but definitely need to restock.

I just picked up a Gallon of the Interceptor for $34. In Bloomer, they have at the Bumper to Bumper. They did not have the injector and so I picked up the interceptor. Thanks for the Help guys!

Just to be safe I recommend you run what is in the sled low before filling with the new oil. Not critical but not a bad idea either.

You’ll like the smell of that Interceptor. Kinda sweet. My personal favorite 2-cylce is Polaris Gold. Used it once and man does that smell like candy. Even better than Klotz in my opinion. That was a few years ago so they may have changed the formula.

Just sold a 95 Pantera. Any TCw3 oil is fine. Injex was my oil of choice.
