Ordered up the Muzzy headers and dual exhaust system for the 800. Heard a lot of good things about this system. Lifetime warranty and spark arrestor and quiet ride system comes with it. Good to go in the State Parks and within decibel requirements as well.
    Anybody running these by chance?

What other mods do you have?

I had PooPoo 250 when they came out, what difference a set of Super Swampers made, that thing was a bit under powered but it weighed nothing, it would float in the water, and go thru mud in low range like a crazy

So far just the 26″ ITP’s and set the suspension up higher. According to the Muzzy’s guys, Polaris left a lot of fuel in their program, so chipping or mapping is not a worry. I am not impressed with the thin metal of the factory header Polaris uses. My pipe will glow red hot. I was tols that is normal, as Polaris is using thinner metal on their exhausts now.
Getting a K&N filter for it today. Contemplating a clutch kit, but won’t decide that until I ride it with these mods. She pulls and goes like a monster now! I don’t want to mess with the clutch if I don’t have to.

Chris, you will need a programmer of some kind to adjust the EFI with the pipe. It is not good to have a pipe that hot. You can damage the engine and possibly melt the plastic. Check it out before you go too far.

Thanks for the advice. I did a lot of research on these ahead of time, and was told that these are not “Hot” pipes, and due to the fact Polaris runs rich they should be OK. I will be checking plug colors to see if temps are not optimum. These are the pipes. They do not come close to the plastic. In ’06, these came with dual exhaust, ’07 didn’t. The performance packs are about $250 and will be purchased if she seems to be running warmer…but from people I have talked to it shouldn’t be necessary. There is no tuned expansion chamber like a snowmobile where you can melt them down due to leaning them out. (Speaking from experience. )

Seems like you have it under control then. Hard to tell when I’m new here. Muzzy has the best pipes on the market, IMO. Wish they made a pipe for my XP.

Being under control is not one of my strongest points!

Hey, welcome to the site by the way! Good to have you on board! We would like to see some more chatter in the ATV Forum here on IDO. What brings you in here?

The Muzzy’s are somewhat new to me and I have been doing a lot of reasearch on them. I ride with guys who do not appreciate the noise of loud pipes on private land, so having the option to change the decibel level was important to me. I am looking forward to see what performance additions they offer. I am told that oversized tires can suck 5-10 HP from your wheeler, and if these pipes gain that back for me…COOL!

Thanks. Was referred by one of your members. Came from a competitor site (FM) who is a little too picky and too proud of only their sponsors(money/advertising). Hoping this site is geared more toward fun and the members’ opinions.

I have no idea how your buddy drives or maintain his stuff…but I don’t know of anyone who has had issues with the exception of a buddy who has enough miles to go to the moon and back. So far, so good here. It’s the Hondas that break! Oops! Did I say that out loud?

A bumper breaking isn’t an issue. Now if the hondas would all play on the side lines instead of getting in the mud/snow/water like you and your po po because we’re “afraid” of tossing a belt…. I could have saved a bunch of money and bought pedal bike… Wuss tar baby.

You have spent more time wrenching on your brakes and breaking things pulling people out of snow (Ooooh, FUN!)than riding!

Yeah, call me what you want…I know my limitations and know what I think is fun. If I want to float a wheeler, I’d get a boat. Or I could just drive into a snow bank just to get pulled out.

You’re thinking of z, I’ve never touched by brakes, besides cleaning the mud out of them. And I broke a bumper, big deal, I also bent the crap out of your po po front and back trying to yank your fat and that fat machine out of snow and mud, with that same bumper. Its getting fixed, for free!

You’re right, buy an 800, soup it up brag about it, then sit on the side lines like a wuss. Or drive on the ice and do donuts…. woo hoo.

I hope for your sake you have cash with on the next ride, if not, you better bring a shovel and a AAA card if you get stuck or break down. Its going to cost you.

Your limitation is that you’re a wuss.

you won’t drive into a snow bank, someone else did with your wheeler and you cried about it…. And who pulled it out… oh yes, that was me!

differing opinions on what is fun i guess, maybe i’ll understand your view in 15+ years….

I think we have a new name for Tuckner/Ritter team.

Team Wuss, managed by old wuss, including member young wuss. This just may stick!!

Its not as catchy as team honky tonk though.. Keep trying Kooty! you’ve got a little time to get creative before the opener!

Well, my atv is not a bulldozer and is not a submarine. I also paid for it, so I’ll be a wuss if I want to.
Someone being a “wuss” with their atv doesn’t bother me as bad as the ones who ruin their atv and ruin the day for everyone else. Then can’t afford to even get it fixed correctly. Not pointing fingers…..these are just my experiences.

I’ll take the ridicule with a smile when my atv is still running perfect.

    Boy..I guess he told me!

I’m with you Roofer. It’s easy to sit and point fingers as to why you break stuff. Like I said…fine if that is your idea of fun. For me, smashing into a snowbank on the edge of a lake to see if I can get through it is not my idea of fun. But for you thrill seekers it must be close to the top of the list.
    Have at ‘er!

But don’t sit and whine when we trail ride in Danbury and you have to eat dust for a day because you can’t keep up. I’d rather do that than drown my wheeler or smash into snowbanks.

If you wanna put your money where your mouth is, come up to the Bruno with Deiman and I in May…or you could come up with an excuse about watching some weigh in somewhere.

Its a stupid bumper, give it up.

680 single vs 800 twin, even you can figure out I won’t win that race.

While “we” thrill seekers are out having our fun, you can stay home, running up and down michael ave, since driving up and down a gravel road on a souped up 800 is your type of fun.

Why would I go up there, what type of “my” fun are we going to have, i don’t have to leave town to put around… Or do you need me to drive….

And yes, I do want to watch the Tour weigh in!

It’s really not a whole lot different than someone with a souped up truck driving to work on the highway or a really nice boat just to troll the small lakes around here.

At least the atv is offroad. With our rules and regulations, there isn’t much we can really do.

Popo’s last alot longer when you keep ’em on the road. Me, I like to play, weather it’s in mud, plowing snow, and even some trail riding as long as the trails aren’t lame!

Well, hello jtimm…long time no speak.

I have to agree, but I’ll have to add that all of them last longer if you keep them out of the deep stuff.

Are you going to come out on any rides this year?

With me it’s what I see as fun. I use mine for hunting and fishing more than anything else. It’s what I like to do. I like to tweak machines as well. Every snowmobile I owned was worked. How does that differ from chipping a diesel to get extra performance?

I do it more for fun to see what else I can get out of them. Like I said..if mud and water are your thing..go play in it! I have no problem with that whatsoever. Now that I have a winch on mine I will feel more comfortable doing it so I don’t need to worry about getting pulled out by anyone when I get in too deep.

Didn’t realize that this was going to hit such a nerve.

Hey Roofer! I was wondering where you went? Did ya get the boot at F.M. I know I have several times! Yeah, as with everything if you treat it good it will usually last longer with less troubles. ATV does stand for “All” terrain vehicle. If I didn’t like to test the 4wd capabilities I would of purchased a Raptor or something like it. I use mine for everything, but do alot of plowing with it. Icefishing, hunting, hauling firewood, and maintaining our 1/4 mile long driveway. My wheeler gets worked there’s no doubt about that. I’ll have to see if the dates work out for the rides this year.

Ya, got booted for “discussing forum policy” (making fun of the rules in the public forum). I think some of the mods may have had it out for me because I called them “city folk” and “sissy”. Oh well. Everyone is a tough guy behind the keyboard, right………

I said it many times that I liked the people there, just not the dictation on the open forums.

Seems better here already. At least they let us talk amongst ourselves (PM’s) and I can see that the mods can take a little guff and hand it out in a decent way.

Just have to see if anyone can back up their spouts here and come out and ride.
