Snowmobile Auger Rack

A few pictures of the auger rack my brother and I have been working on.

After 4 days traveling across Lake Of The Woods I think we have a good working prototype.

I made it out of aluminum tubing to reduce corrosion. Aluminum flexes a bit to much.

No problems with structural failure but I’d like it as sturdy as possible.

The next one will be either stainless tube or if its to expensive, regular steel and get it zinc plated, black chromate.

I’m going to get the tube that runs through the tunnel flush with the belly pan so the cover will fit better and it will look a little cleaner.

Bracket for the auger head to rest on.

Notice the fix for the broken auger handle.

    New cargo racks.

Bumper and hitch built into the rack.

It replaces the old bumper – same hole pattern.

Kraig, I have seen the same auger racks before. I know Genz is running a similar one. Some guys that are running that type have them mounted to the spring somehow.

That’s the toughest thing about these racks – where to mount them.

Every sled is different depending on what type, motor or year it is. Very little metal and next to no flat surfaces.

We though about mounting on the suspension but it would get a lot more jarring and bouncing.

Why don’t you mount it above the box you built in the back of the sled? Might not have to go as high in the air…should take less of a beating…

    Though about that too.

With the extension you have 3 feet of auger out to one side.

Not to mention I have enough weight on the back of my sled.

    I don’t think it will pass “Pre-race” inspection anymore… Nice set-up
