I have a question about my carburetor. I had to pull the bowl of the carb this year and clean out the gunk..I pulled the stem out and cleaned it to. I put it all back together and now it wont start very well. I have to put starter fluid into it, then it will start and run like normal.

It used to start like a champ in any weather, but now it’s not…

Is there anything I did or didn’t do when I cleaned the carb ?

    thanks all

You may have adjusted a setting when you took it apart, and/or it adjusted as a result of cleaning. Not sure what you have for a carb, but try adjusting the carb small increments at a time. The other thing I have done is taken a carb apart and cleaned it again and found out that was the problem. I would try cleaning again first, then try adjusting if that did not work.
    Good luck

I’d recheck everything. Is the choke hooked up? Are the air intake boots tight? If that stuff is good you may need to remove the bowl again and recheck to be sure there isn’t a chunk of gunk that got over looked and is blocking the pick up tube. I bet after a good recheck you’ll have it figured out.

I’m with Riveratt. Take it apart and check it out. Pay close attention to any gaskets/diaphragms for tears.

    well,

after trial and error…and one heck of a clean carb…the choke was not working..there is a spring on the other side of the carb lever and it come undone..there is a cap over it…I put it back together and it fires up on one or two pulls just like it always used to…
