i have had this sled for 2 years now and like it for a fishing sled, however 2 times now it has gotten me to a spot but then leaves me stranded there, the other night it fired up on the trailer no problems and mad it out on the lake, after fishing, i went to start it and nothing, battery was good, the efi module was clicking however i couldnt tell if the full pump was running although it wouldnt start for anything. got it home and stil no start and then tonight i try it and it fires up on the third pull just like normal. anyone have any sugustions on what might be wrong? i dont really want to take it to a shop being its so intermintint i feel they would charge me just to tell me theres nothing wrong with it. i belive that the fule pump wasnt cycleing properly out on the ice and then tonight it worked jsut fine. i hate haveing a sled that i cant trust, and thats the only reason i ask

So, are you saying it cranks over fine, but will not start ? I am assuming it has elec start, but then I see you say it took 3 pulls ? I would look at plugged fuel lines somewhere. Maybe something in the tank ?

yes it has electric start and even cranking it over with that it wouldnt start. however i tend to try pulling it over first being the starter isnt shimed right so it seldom enguages. after about an hour of trying it on the lake the other day we gave up, and when i tried it last night, it was the third pull it fired right up

Cat was notorious for kill switch issues during that time frame. You may want to put in a bypass kit available at a Cat dealer.

that and when it acts up again check to see if you have spark that would narrow it down even more

I would guess, and this is “only” a guess, check on top of the chain chase, right below the recoil. I know thats where polaris liked to put them in the mid 90’s.

That is where it should be.

On-line parts diagrams for your use. I had a 1994 Pantera at one time, bought it 1999 and ran it a few years. Good sled. Remember, this EFI is totally dependent on the battery.

If I remember right the EFI brain box flashes a light code on the side for diagnosis. Been a few years though, memory is fuzzy. Might be something to check.
