1995 XCR 600. I Know, don’t get jealous it’s not for sale. It has been running great all winter. The last time my son was out he called and said it killed on him. I was able to get it started and slowly drive it to the nearest road. If I gave it to much gas it would slowly kill. Now it starts and runs like normal until you get on the gas and then it slowly kills. My first thought was either the inline fule filter or the filter on the fuel pickup tube in the tank. Thoughts? My only other thought was He had just left the gas station but I buy the non-oxy at that station all the time with no issues.

My sled was a little newer but I was having the same issue. it was the clutch. I am not very mechanical so dont ask me. I just know they replaced the clutch and it worked great.

It’s been a long time for me, but back when I was running XLT’s and the Ultra (all tripples). I once sucked in a broken reed valave and it had me stumped for the longest time until I figured it out.
I can’t remember if was a stock reed or one of the after markets (like V-Force).
If I remember right, mine was doing about the same thing.
I’m sure others will have more logical 1st things to look at but at least if your still stumped, you can remember this.

A guy here at work says, Take the belt off and try it and then if that isn’t it, Take the Carbs apart.

I wouldn’t run it with the belt off. You don’t want those clutch sheaves slamming together.

It would be a good idea to check the throttle safety switch on your sled. I am not 100% sure, but I think it is actually located on the handlebar itself. It may be that your throttle cables are sticking causing the switch to shut it down.

Reeds are also a good thing to check.
