My rear tire went flat last week..brought it to repair shop..put in new valve stem..now its flat again

The tires are old, but still have decent tread. I feel like I just need to buy a new tire, but do I need to buy 2 new rear tires so they match? I run this through the woods once in awhile..thats it.

Soak it with soapy water to see where it’s leaking. Might just need a 50 cent plug in it or some bead sealant.

Pop it, tube it, stem it, then ride it.

I could not tube my Gator tires, about a gallon of SLIME in each of the 6 tires. We have used it since 98′ for roofing. each tire has about 30 nails in it. SLIME works great.

One got a side wall slice in it and just the other week I put 7 cans of minimum expanding Great Stuff Window and Door in the tire. So far so good. Its my experiment.

Either tube or slime might be your best option but locate the leak first to know why exactly it is going flat, as mentioned it may just need plugged but there are many options

Plug it if you can find the leak. I have one tire with 3 plugs in one hole on my otter atv trailer. It holds air and the other tire leaks now, go figure.

I just soaped the tire and it has 2 big leaks around the bead. Supposedly, it was re-sealed when the new valve stem was placed. Do you think that the bead might have a tear in it, or does it need to be re-sealed again?

Is the rim bent? Unless the tire is ripped in that spot it should seal. If that’s the case id go the slime route.

My old 86 yamaha had bead leak issues. Rims had rust. I sanded down and repainted insides and hasn’t leaked since. Try cleaning the area and at Fleet Farm they sell a bead sealer stuff you can wipe on. Works well. On my trailer with atv tires the sidewalls were using air in multiple places. Sat flat too many times and old rubber. The price of the tube was about the same as Slime. No issues since I put in tubes. Having Fleet Farm less than 2 miles away helps.
