I finally received clearance from the War Department to buy a wheeler. My main use will be ice fishing with some hunting and trail riding mixxed in.

I am planning to look at a 2006 Polaris Sportsmen 700 EFI this weekend. What should I look for and does anyone have any experiance with the 700 EFI?

What do you guys do when you are out in the middle of nowhere and your battery is dead? Doesn’t the EFI need the battery to run the EFI? We were up in Canada a couple years ago and the battery went dead on my brothers EFI. We could jump start it, but the second we took the cables off, it would die. He was lucky and found a $140 battery, otherwise, the machine would have spent the whole trip on the trailer. Something to think about?

I would say the benefits of EFI far outweigh the disadvantages. I would not buy another one that didn’t have EFI, and I currently have both.

I’m relatively new to EFI myself on recreational vehicles. Had it on my boat since 1998. My sleds are carbed along with one of my quads. However my latest two quads are EFI and like the boat and the last 7 cars I have owned I find EFI to work so well I cannot imagine going back. It takes little extra effort to make sure you always have a good battery.
