    Hello,

I just purchased a new 4 wheeler battery from Napa 2 years ago and it is already junk. I paid about $100 for it. No more NAPA batteries for me. What batteries do you guys recommend for a 4 wheeler and where to purchase. Thanks!

Is your wheeler a newer one with digital display? if so you need a battery tender. they draw current 24/7 even if key is off . Atv/Snowmobile batteries are not designed for being drawn down. My dealer had me hook up a battery tender and my batteries are on 3rd season . 1st battery lasted 1 summer failed during winter. Newer outboards do the same thing computer draws current at all times.

I have never gotten more than three good years use out of an ATV battery. They just don’t last because of all the vibration and jarring and draining that they get. It’s the price of owning a ATV. I too have a battery maintainer that helps keep it charged when not in use and that does seem to help.

X2 on mwal’s post. On year 3 of a wal-mart battery using a tender and it starts like a brand new battery.

We have 2001 and 2003 Honda Foremans we bought new. I estimate I have bought 8 batteries in that time. Fleet Farm, Wally World, Batteries Plus, does not seem to matter. 2 years, maybe 3, that’s all we get for service life. Very annoying at $75/. Battery tender only works if I plug it in.

Wrong forum but batteries vary. If NAPA give you some credit for that battery you’re better off buying another from them. If the same thing happens again check your electrical system then buy another brand. I have had extreme satisfaction on all my quads using YUSA batteries.

You could also disconnect it if you are not using it but once in a while and dont have a charger handy. But a battery tender is a necessity.

Definitely use a charger. Most ATV have an electrical system that charges the batterry slooooowly. You need the charger to keep it topped off.
