I have a 3000 on a 700 kingquad get the rope cable way better!
I put a 2500 KFI winch on my 700 Kodiak. I’m already wishing I put 3,000+. The one bonus of going with a lighter weight winch is you’re less likely to wreck something. Still wishing I would’ve put a 3,000-3,500lb winch on it.
Pat what do you think of the KFI winch? I was thinking about that one, but couldn’t find many reviews on them. I’m leaning towards the Viper Elite.
I just replaced my superwinch 3000 with a 2500. I can’t tell a difference between the two of them. I pull alot of trees and plow alot also. Had a viper winch before and only got a year out of it. X2 on the synthetic rope.

My viper is about 10 years old and has been great. Not too heavily used though. Synthetic rope.
SuperWinch Terra35 Synthetic rope
100% satisfied with this winch.
Warn Pro-Vantage 2500 with the steel cable. I, too, wish I would’ve gone with the 3500. But it does the job just fine. Pulled myself out of some thick stuff, and yanks the docks and lifts out at the cabin with ease. I think I could have saved myself some money and gone with the KFI instead of Warn and been just fine.

It seems to work just fine. I have really only used it for plowing. I did use it to pull a van out of the snow bank by my house a couple weeks ago during one of those snow storms we had. I would really like to replace the steel cable with synthetic.

What are you needing to do that a 2,500lb winch can’t handle? Just curious. I’m winch shopping for a 700 Kodiak mainly to be used for fishing/hunting/trails.

It just bogs down a little more than I thought it would when raising a plow. In theory it should be plenty for a 600 pound machine like the Kodiak. If I were to do it over again I probably would get the 3500. It can’t hurt to go a little heavier than you think you need. I just ordered a 50′ synthetic rope for mine as I bought mine with steel cable. I would get the synthetic.
I’m sure you would get by just fine with the #2500 in most applications, all i’m saying is if I was going to buy one today and I didn’t have one already I would get a #3000+. I’m not worried enough about it on mine to sell the 2500 and replace with bigger. I think it was only like 30-40 dollar difference.
KFI winches are excellent. I had a standard one for 5 years with zero issues. Replaced it with an Assault series prototype before they were released and they’re an absolute animal of a winch. going on 3 years with that one and zero issues. Might be too big for an ATV, but they’re smaller than just about any winch in that size range.
