    Guys-
Looking to purchase a new ATV. There are some good end of year deals out there right now that I want to take advantage of. Would mostly be using for trail riding and some light work (small plow, winch out dock etc.) Looking at a Polaris Sportsman. I’ve had good luck with their snowmobiles so why not the ATV’s right? Really want something that I’m not going to have to repair for years. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Should I be looking at some other brand? Don’t see many used ones for sale so I’m guessing that the guys who own them like them. Any info or opinions would be great. Thanks

Plenty of used Sportsmans on the market in CR. Not that it’s an indication that they are a bad vehicle; I own 2 of them. Right now is a sellers market with people wanting one for the upcoming deer season.

I think the biggest complaint with the Sportsman is keeping the battery maintained. They do seem to be tough on batteries, but as long as the fluid is topped off and a tender hooked up you’ll be fine. I put an AGM in this spring so we’ll see that that works.

I think ATV’s are like trucks and boat motors. Some are better than others but all are fairly reliable as long as cared for. I’m a Dodge, Polaris and Yamaha guy.
