ATV GPS for ice….

I have the attached atv. I’m looking to add a good, yet reasonably priced, gps. I don’t own a boat to use one out of, so I will be buying something that will stay on the atv full time. I know I want depth highlighting, SD card (navionics and/or lake master), waterproof, 5 plus inch screen, etc…. Doesn’t need deucer as it will only be for ice fishing on the atv.
Any suggestions on a reliable, decent priced unit?
I ice fish a lot around eastern ND to western MN as well as lake of the woods several times a year, as I have a cabin there, so looking for something that can hold up to the conditions.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    Thanks!

I’d look for a Lowrance Elite-5, there’s lots of used ones for sale it was a premier unit many years ago…I use an Elite-4 on my ATV, same as a 5 just a slightly smaller screen.

IMHO figure out what you want for mapping and then go from there. lakemaster chips only work in Hummingbirds ect. larger screen the better as vibrations make it hard to see on the move. my neighbor bought a Helix 7 GPS only for his Razer last winter, worked good.

I have a Helix 5 I put on my ATV for the winter. It spends it’s summer and fall in my duck boat. Even if you’re just leaving it on the ATV, for $250 on Amazon, you can’t go wrong. Plus you have the option of Lakemaster AND Navionics. I am more partial to Lakemaster myself, that’s why I choose Humminbird. You can also get a Garmin Striker 5CV for less than $300 and have the option to use LakeVu.

This has been discussed quite a few times before as well if you want to search those up. But I have a Helix 5 on mine, it works great just wish it was a Helix 7 for the bigger screen as bumps and vibrations make it difficult to read at times.

Mine is pretty much devoted to the wheeler though I may make a bracket to throw it on the kayak as well.

have a helix 7 on mine, awesome size, paried with the lakemaster chip you get depth highlighting of your targeted zone along with shallow water and water level offset, maybe useful in ND there with the drought conditions

    X2 helix 7.
And yes they do have a cig lighter adapter. Just have to call the factory.
Seems the Reps up here aren’t very well versed on that.

I made my own, nothing too difficult crimping a couple wires and installing some heat shrink.

    Munchy –
I know, my point is I asked the reps at the ice fishing show and the sporting goods stores around here which all of them told me there was no such thing when hummingbird clearly has them.

If you have a part number it would help a lot of people to post it.

dang it, I was hoping you wouldn’t ask that. I’ll see if I can dig it out.

The other thing to think/worry about is draining your ATV battery with a larger unit. Most newer ATV’s have electric start only, if that battery gets drained on the ice, you’re SOL. The smaller screen units will obviously drain less power, something to think about. You could also just use a separate battery for the electronics, but that’s also added cost/weight…
