ATF a little busy?

I ran over to Reeds on Friday and bought a Ruger 10-22 to aid in the war on muskrats. Filled out the paperwork and wandered around while the background check was being done. Eventually I was told it was pulled for “a closer look” like randomly being pulled out of line at the airport. The salesman said I was the sixth person just that day. They (ATF) have until the 22nd to approve it and if Reeds hasn’t received a response by then I just go pick it up.

He says the number of times this is happening is way up.

    That stinks!!!

Wife and I just bought 2 hand guns on line and had then shipped to our local FFL.
Wife ran and did the paperwork. By the time she got back to work (about 1/2 hour) they called her and said approved… come get them.
    I was actauly quite suprised.
Now, if we could only find reasonable deals on ammo… bulk.

I’ve been taking careful aim and one shot kills on the rats to conserve ammo. I’m targeting a problem beaver and won’t be stingy when we finally meet!

The ammo shortage here is not everywhere there are many new gun owners in mn. I was just in Missouri and found plenty of ammo at very reasonable prices.

Got a call a few hours after posting this and got the green light! Whew! rotflol

Went and picked it up and there was a line of six folks buying guns.

Side note, the gun is great and pretty accurate right out of the box!

I think it’s the FBI that does back ground and mental health check when you purchase a firearm. They use the NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System). Not the ATF.

Could be. I know the 4473 form you fill out is a ATF form.

If you and your wife bought them, she can’t legally do the paperwork for both.
