That’s odd to me. I haven’t ever heard anything bad (or good) about them in the past.
Normally we hear about the cream that rises to the top in the fishing/boating industry and we hear about the..well what sinks to the bottom?

3) All they needed to do was install the motor.
OK, that’s a game over right there for me. They can’t even blame the production delays at the factory, the whole thing was in the dealer’s control the whole time.
You’re way more generous than I would ever have been.
Please don’t tell us you paid for this thing in full? Please. Don’t tell us that.
Grouse
Were they waiting for a motor for some of that time? Or everything sitting there?
I am the General Manager of River Valley Power & Sport of Red Wing. Looking through our Sportsman Show sales log, I don’t see that we sold any pontoon to Lakeville. However, I do see that our Lake Minnetonka store did. Since I don’t know your name I can’t confirm this. But will apologize on behalf of the company for any delays. If you wish to call me at our Red Wing location, I can do my best to help out on behalf of our Lake Minnetonka store where I believe you bought this from. I also show that your salesman would have been a Nate D. You will have to let me know if this is correct. Feel free to call me to talk further. I would like to help get to the bottom of this.
Thanks,

Hopefully this latest post (above) helps…. sounds like a communication meltdown. As someone pointed out, getting up the ladder helps. Companies work hard for a reputation, sounds like Shannon is willing to work to keep their’s as intact as possible.
Good luck with it all.
Very nice response other then it didn’t address the issue. The issue boiled down is this………..somebody sold a pontoon that only needed a motor hung on it. It was a stock pontoon so it wasn’t a pair of 300’s being hung. Pretty basic stuff. What happened is spring came early and caught them unprepared. They thought they had plenty of time to hang that motor. Well guess what, they didn’t get it done. If they were waiting for a shipment of motors they could have searched and searched and for eelpouts phone number and kept him informed. After all they were able to find it this morning to SEND HIM A TEXT.
To all dealerships……….you wonder why some customers call and pester you time after time to find the progress on the delivery of their new boat. It’s because guys like this (dealership, salesman, service manager) can’t get their crap together and simply inform the buyer whats going on.
Shannon on a serious note, thanks for stepping up. I hope you can make him happy and retain the deal. With me I already would have left with the check.
Shannon stepped up to the plate. Thank you Shannon.
Pontoon will be delivered Saturday morning!
You guys can’t see this right now (and you probably don’t want to see it anyway) but I’m dancin right now – OH, I’m dancin!
too bad it had to get this far before the customer was made to feel happy. Glad it worked out for you eelpoutguy. Would like to start hearing some stories where everything was done as it was promised the first time without hassles. Oddly enough my boat is in the marina right now for a warranty repair. Was told it will be ready tonight for pick up.
I will either be or
Shannon stepped up to the plate. Thank you Shannon.
Good news and good job to Shannon for stepping in and stepping up.
However…
If one of my sales people had ever TEXTED a customer about a potential issue… Yeah, that part got me. I’d have been doing some mobile phone skeet shooting.
Agree with Crappie, too bad it had to go this far.

There are several that posted here that he (EPG) should have walked away from the deal and demanded his $$ back. If in fact he had, there probably would have been 0% chance he would have had a boat by Saturday. Not sure he could’ve just gone to the next place and bought another in time for Saturday morning. But maybe so?
Point being, sometimes you do have to be a little patient and let things play out.
I had work done at SBC. The crew installed a Ulterra and a couple locators, couple pads to step on, steps on the trailer. They actually finished ahead of the promised time. When there was a question of the exact location for one of the locators Jim called me. Doing things right doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a culture ingrained from ownership down to management to the employees. I have found that they strive to overachieve which is nice.
I’m not blowing wind up Deans skirt, Crappie asked and I’m telling my experience. Trust me, I have zero problem in voicing my concerns when asked.
dropped my boat off at the marina Saturday, they said give us a few days. called on Tuesday and they said it would be done tomorrow. called this morning and they said its being worked on. got a call 30 minutes ago and said its ready come get it. From start to finish they hit every deadline and couldn’t have made the experience any easier for me. With every call I was preparing myself for a fight based off of my previous experiences and others, and it never came to that. I agree with Dutch, good marinas come from a good culture of honesty and hard work. That being said, I think that there is a difference between ordering a new boat and having a boat serviced. I don’t know why, but for some reason it seems like broken deadlines are the norm with new boat purchases.
Although this is none of my buzwacks what EPG does or is happy with…They should be offering more.
Scheduled it to be picked up today at 9am to take up to the new cabin.
Took the day of work to take the boat up and bring the trailer back.
Work Thursday.
Friday hauling a trailer up.
Have the entire family coming up this weekend to ride in the pontoon.
Unless there’s something I don’t know about I would think someone should be putting in some overtime to get that toon ready for you. If not today, Friday at the very latest.
Saturday is cutting too far into your weekend.
Andy has a good point however I bought a Ford because the Chev sales person pissed me off.
My opinion on where my head would be at. No more, no less.
Have meet fair share of sales people and proffesionally dont care for many of them. Worried about cashing their commission checks more than cashing the checks their mouths wrote to close the deal.
Maybe boat sales aren’t this way.
Saturday pontoon ride, nice

You guys can’t see this right now (and you probably don’t want to see it anyway) but I’m dancin right now – OH, I’m dancin!
This is all that matters!!!!
Congrats on the new boat – enjoy it!
I am glad you got some satisfaction EPG, but I really wanted to see the picutre of 6 adults and 3 dogs in the back troller with booze stains

It’s never too late for that picture Sticker! And everyone including the dogs wearing the big, square orange life jackets!
This thread is a good example of the long reach of IDO.
Have a great weekend with the new boat eelpoutguy!
Drive around the dealership with a big sign in the the back of your truck. As long as you don’t go on their property you will be ok. I’m sure they will settle up with you asap!
I know some who did that because of a truck he bought. They even called the cops but because he wasn’t trespassing nothing could be done. Needless to say he had a check in less than 2 hours!!
Good to hear that you’re getting your rig and Shannon stepped up to the plate and helped resolve the issue, but it still doesn’t resolve what happened or why, sounds like one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing. In this case it looks like poor management is to blame and therefore negative opinions have been formed
Hat’s half way off to Sahnnon. Great it got resolved, but it shouldn’t have gotten to the point it did. Like Grouse keeps saying, it’s a one way street for the got to’s. The dealer ain’t got to do a damp thing, but the buyer sure has a laundry list of got to’s. Then it gets brought up on a forum and damage control is brought to the forefront and it becomes a public relations campaign. Sorry, but I wouldn’t do business with a company again where it got to the point it did if I was in the same situation, without a lot of communication of why it happened and what was being done to resolve the issue so it wouldn’t happen again to someone else.
Great it got resolved,
Woah there big fella. The horse ain’t in the barn yet. Let’s get a confirmation from ‘Pout that they actually sealed the deal.
I mean, not that anything could go wrong…

Hope it all works out. Another shout out to SBC! Management philosophy trickles down to workforce. They are not miracle workers but go beyond what would be considered “normal service” Don’t know how that translates to price even though I know they are competitive, but being a weekend warrior having my boat delivered/ maintained when stated is great!
Just called, the Pontoon is just going by the west side of the pond on 169. One hour to go.
Pictures shortly
Damn I’m jealous. My boat is out of commission until I get a new wheel bearing hub. Supposedly some time next week just in time for rain. Enjoy the nice weather and ur new boat.
Have you asked yourself……”If I hadn’t started that thread on IDO would I be looking at my pontoon right now?”
