Artificial Leech

    My 8 year old grandson caught a 21.5 inch smallmouth and we are getting a replica mount made. He caught the bass on a slip float and leech. He wants a leech in the mouth of the mount. We are having a tough time finding an artificial leech that is realistic. (I found a product made by Slimers on the internet but not sure how it will hold up. Any suggestions would be great!)

    All sorts of rubber ones out there. Go to your local Fleet farm and try some out. Of course not sure how they will do all dried out. Also this fall Lunkerhunt has some awesome looking leeches coming out.

    Couldn’t you do something with a real leech? Maybe dehydrate it and coat is with some clear seal?

    The impulse leeches are nice. Nice color and texture in my opinion.

    You could also look at some leech pattern flies. No worries about those drying out or affecting the mount in any way.

    I had one carved for a small mouth mount looks better then I could ask for.
