Sent out to us by John Pitlo of the IA Dept. of Natural Resources, this chart details Catch per Effort (C/E) on Young of the Year (YOY) walleye & sauger for pools 11 & 13. You’ll find this information quite useful and interesting if you’re interested in comparing the spawning success of these 2 species over the last 12 years on these two pools.

    YOY Populations for Pools 11 & 13 – 1992 through 2003

Boy it’s pretty easy to see why the fishing is said to be pretty tough down on pool 11 after looking at this report. From 1993 – 2000 the walleye numbers were consistently low. Can’t catch what isn’t there! But there have been some good spawns in the recent years that should be impacting catch rates right now.
