It’s an older study (covering the years from 1967 – 1981) but there’s still a lot of good info here to digest. I would be very interested to see this study updated to see how populations and harvest numbers over the past few years compare to the numbers for the years covered with this study.

The one point that is made repeatedly is that the walleye and sauger in pool 4 grow fast and die young, enabling the fishery to withstand intense fishing pressure.

    James,

Interesting report. From what you know, would you say there is more continuos pressure now then back then or the same?
Is it safe to say there was more fish harvested during that period than there is now?

I’d have to guess that harvest & pressure has increased.
