Just got back from 3 days fishing at Arnesens Rocky Point resort. Fishing was so – so all three days. Due to the lack of ice (was 11″ by Gull Rock) all of their houses are in close yet – with most scattered between Twin Island, Gull Rock & the mud flats west of the resort. Wingnut did indicate that they were working on a path to 12 mile reef but were struggling with thickness to get out there; he was hopeful after this cold snap that they’d be able to get some houses moved out there. Transportation is currently wheeled enclosed trailers with a geo track due to ice – they are not running track vans and are estimating they won’t be for another 3 weeks or so.
We fished all 3 days near Gull Rock with a decent day on Sunday and Tuesday, and a slow Monday due to a weather system that blew through. Lots of saugers – and no big fish – biggest Walleye / Sauger of the trip was 16″.
I didn’t see a strong trend on jigs – about 50/50 on deadstick vs jigging line with about 50% of the fish being active and the other half very sluggish.
