Are Rifle price extremely overpriced right now?

I have handguns and always meant to buy a rifle (specifically AR-15 because it is similar to the M-16 I fired in military). I put it off because they were expensive and now Biden just gave us money and I know he wanted me to buy an AR-15 with it to help boost the economy ) My question is have they always ran 1000-1500 for the lower end? I want to buy one but sites I were looking at for reviews listed also listed the price they sold for and it said about 700 for one of them and I cannot find it for less than 1100 anywhere. Was that site right and they were just that cheap 2 years ago or they went up in price normally and will never go back to 700? I want to spend about 1200-1500 but if it will drop in price if Biden and company shuts up about gun control I would wait.

I personally think that democrats have stock in ammo and gun companies and they rattle their sabers every so often to drive the prices up. Every time they speak there is a run on guns and ammo. I am sitting on about 400 rounds for each of my handguns and I don’t want to go out shooting anymore because it is hard to replace and expensive.

So the question is a 2 parter do you think prices will drop down or should I buy now? Second I read some review sites because I only have had handguns and the m-16 in military, well and the 20MM Vulcan cannon (hence the Gunnerb52 name). So what would someone recommend for an ar-15 in 5.56/.223 used for target and defense in the 1000-1500 range?

They’ll come back down but Lord knows when. If you watch YouTube, check out Kentucky Ballistics. He is hilarious and does quite a few reviews on weapons. I know very little about AR’s but with as much as he shoots I’m sure he knows what he’s talking about.

Very high prices right now. A year ago you could get decent entry level AR’s for around $600. I would hold off unless you want to spend a lot more.

Another thing to consider if you buy one good luck finding ammo to even go shooting

With the events in Atlanta the gun control freaks will be out in force again.

I don’t think the prices are going to come down anytime soon. The demand for new guns is through the roof and it will only get worse as we get closer to the new gun policies the administration is talking about.
The price won’t matter if there is no stock to choose from…
I just placed a rifle order through Browning and was told to expect an Oct 2021 delivery.

I bought mine for 6-700 in December and the prices are still the same. Some companies are higher priced than others, there are options out there.

For 1000-1500 you will have no issues getting an AR that is a great target gun. Target and Self Defense IMO have a fair amount of differences. If I think target like a lot of most my coyote rifles which are anderson, diamondback, olympic and DPMS were all between 450 used-899.99 new and will all shoot close to or under 1MOA. These rifles are all mounted with various scopes ranging from 1-6 power up to 5-20 power making the self defense inside a home more of a point and shoot unless you mounted an offset red dot or flip up for close quarters.

If your target shooting is 200 yards and less you could probably like on of the strike eagle or blackhound optics 1-6 or 1-8 power scopes that would be simular to a red dot but still easily magnified.

    where are you located?

Still plenty of vendors that have entry level ARs for under $700. I just slapped together another Palmetto for $650 not including Larue trigger and scope/mount.

Find one that comes stock with more than 1 high capacity clip. Some come with 3-5 clips…
Finding and buying clips 1 year from now might be difficult.

    20MM Vulcan cannon
Wow that looks like fun, in the right circumstances (Like when you aren’t being shot at)! Thank you for your service! Welcome to IDO.

Fully assembled are high priced, i agree.
Check out LaRue tactical. You can buy a complete upper for good price, and then just slap on a stripped lower. High quality for under $1k.
I don’t think they have altered their prices in over a year, no price gouging there.

You’ll wait a few months for them to build it though, but they’re high quality.
That’s the only armalite 15 i have, so all i can suggest unfortunately.

I went to the farm store the other day and the ammo section was _empty_. Is that normal also?

$10.22 per mag is pretty decent considering the times. If you can find them cheaper including tax and shipping, by all means post up the link.

You’ll be hard pressed to find MOE Pmags anywhere for under $9.60 shipped. There’s plenty of sites that have them for around $9.99 but you either need to spend $125 to get free shipping, or there’s a limit of 5 or 10 which precludes you from hitting the free shipping total $$ for that site.
