So I was out to a small lake about 100 yards out to a crappie hole there was anywhere from 7-9 inches of ice and this dolt come out right next to me in his brand new car it didn’t even have plates yet.

The fish are worth it, the problem is lazy people that cant walk 100 yards to fish.
January 2, 2017 at 5:42 pm #1661567Problem with this……. these types of people (I.e. Photo) are always right. They never seem to be wrong. At any rate, I would gladly explain proper ice safety and hope a positive interaction deters this behavior in the future!
SW EyesPosts: 211January 2, 2017 at 5:49 pm #1661568They either have absolutely no idea what they’re doing, or have a serious set of church bells. Id need a change of pants after going for a joyride on 7″.
January 2, 2017 at 7:10 pm #1661582Worth what? Did it end up at the bottom of the lake?
Worth risking your life…. very unsafe idea, dumb question as well.
January 2, 2017 at 7:34 pm #1661585Better than the trucks I seen out on the lake I was at. 4 inches clear ice. 5 inches of white.
roosterrousterInactiveThe "IGH"...Posts: 2092January 2, 2017 at 7:37 pm #1661588I could care less about the idiots car…he is an idiot because once it goes down there will be firefighters and police called to try to save his butt thus he is putting their lives in danger…RR
January 2, 2017 at 7:50 pm #1661591Well one thing I have to say about this is a car like that is pretty light and 7 inches is borderline but 8 enough in my opinion for a car like that. There are certain vehicles that are plenty light for that kind of ice for instance there is a reason that you see all kinds of trackers up at Lake of the woods. They are light and you can take them out on 6 inches. However as we all know ice is never 100 percent safe.
nhammInactiveRobbinsdalePosts: 7348January 2, 2017 at 8:37 pm #1661602Could’ve pulled into any parking lot and joyride on glare ice tonight.
Just spent 3 freakin hours driving home from Cokato area. Freakin scary out there.
January 2, 2017 at 8:38 pm #1661603X2 iceenuts, ugh but 2 years ago it was good ice, some people know everything and some don’t have a clue, or are they one in the same? ill never feel sorry for those who don’t check the ice
January 2, 2017 at 9:25 pm #1661625Not even ten feet away from our permanent house and snowmobile. This guy flew passed us doing at least 35 miles an hour. The house was shaking and Ive never heard the ice crack as loud as it did. the lake we were fishing on has a solid 7-8 inches of good ice. People need to use better judgement and caution when out on the ice.

January 3, 2017 at 10:47 am #1661732On a lake in Southern MN that I was on this weekend I saw a half ton pickup and a LARGE and VERY NICE Ice Castle out on the 7-8″ that I was on. I’m not sure if I was more shocked that they were out there, or that they didn’t fall through. Heck, I wasn’t even comfortable taking my ATV out yet. Going to wait for the cold snap of this week just for a little extra piece of mind before I bring the ATV out.

Was this on Francis? Saw the exact same thing. Nice 16’+ blue Ice Castle. There were a couple perms out on my fathers lake just north of there, but there was close to 10-11″ where they were setup.

Maybe we should make it illegal then. I’m not a big fan of deciding for others what is safe or not. I’ve had people bitch at me for driving on 18″ of ice in March before. I’ve been yelled at for walking on 4″ of ice before.
There are a few IDO episodes that reveal that they are on less ice than the DNR recommends.

This wasn’t on a lake right off of century Avenue was it? Because I saw what looked like a similar vehicle on that lake, about 100 yards west of all the ‘thin ice’ signs by what I think is an aerator.
January 3, 2017 at 8:14 pm #1661952Every year a new class of folks graduate from dumbass university.
I honestly could care less if there car sinks to the bottom of the lake. I do however get bent that their lack of a two digit IQ affects other people, their family, first responders, etc…January 3, 2017 at 8:16 pm #1661953What’s worse, a car on 6″ of ice or the pic below?
This is worth a read:

January 3, 2017 at 9:47 pm #1661981No it’s not the lake off century as to the above pic I don’t care what you do as long as you aren’t coming within ten feet of me with a car on 8 inches of ice
