New Bow?

After about a decade of toting around my Hoyt UltraMag, I’ve decided it’s time for an upgrade. I’ve narrowed my choices down to the Hoyt Charger, the Bow Tech Assassin and the Mission Ballistic. I also find the Bow Tech Carbon Knight interesting.

I’ve shot them all – and based on feel, the Hoyt is leading the race. Price-wise, they are all in the same ballpark.

Any of you guys own these bows and willing to offer your insights?

I haven’t shot any of those bows. I don’t think you can make a wrong choice.

Can’t go wrong with any of them. I am personally not a Hoyt fan just cause EVERYBODY has one. I like the more “unique” brands. Not that Elite or BowTech are really unique. Plus up here the Hoyt dealer and “fanboys” are clowns.

There is a reason however that there are usually so many Hoyt in the top 3 at national competitions. My brother and GF both have Chargers and seem to like them. I haven’t handled them yet, so I cannot speak to that.

Both those BowTechs are awesome bows to.

At the end if the day I say the bow with the best feel wins. It is all about what fits you.

When it comes down to it….what feels and shoots the best. Go with it. I have shot the Charger, Ballistic and Carbon Knight. All great bows. I’m partial to the Charger and Ballistic, they felt much more solid in my opinion. I didn’t care for the Carbon Knight as much. My good hunting buddy shoots a charger and loves it. A toss up!

I upgraded from a 18 year old PSE to the Hoyt Charger last year and my oh my is that an upgrade. I love the Charger. I shot quite a few bows before deciding and the Hoyt just felt the best in my hand. Last season was my first with the Hoyt, I shot at 2 deer and got a complete pass through on both and hit the spot I was aiming at. My accuracy is the best it has ever been.

Make sure to check out the two new bowtechs. Carbon overdrive (same as knight except has binary overdrive cams), considerably faster. Also you owe to yourself to shoot the rpm 360, smooth and very fast. We have both in store if you are anywhere near us come on down and shoot them.

I just noticed you mentioned the assasin as well. They have been phased out of the line up by bowtech. We have several in stock and can get you an unbelievable price on them.

Yeah! Um don’t shoot the 360 unless you want to buy one. That thing is so nice.

Interesting read. I do have a 30 inch draw and It seemed nice to me. But to each their own. It was cool to see how much it slowed with the heavey 500 + grain arrow. I know they do test these with the lightest arrow possible. Personally I’m not getting a new bow this year. I like the 360 for a speed bow. but for me I like the CPXL by bowtech. With a 30 inch draw i need the longer 35 inch Axl to axl

Not to muddy the waters, but I was in your same boat, shot all those bows and ended up with a Mathews Creed holdover from 2013. I have a 30″ draw and this bow seemed to shoot the best for me.

I tried to like the Hoyt, but for some reason it just did not seem as smooth and I did not like the back wall, it seemed mushy to me.

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them you mentioned. All good bows, you just need to find the one that you like the best.
