So, it’s been another year with the single pin sights. Are you guys still in love with them? As I research new accessories for my new bow, this is one area I’m strongly considering switching.

No looking back for me.
Let me know when you get your new bow. I have a “few” you can try if you want. Heck, might even let you buy it if you like it….
November 14, 2012 at 6:51 pm #126870Lot’s of good one’s out there Bob. The 2 I like are the HHA OL 5519 and the Black gold Ascent. Spot Hogg also makes an awesome sight but it is a little much for my needs.
Kooty, I just so happen to have one of those…
November 14, 2012 at 8:43 pm #126877Thanks Guys I used to shoot a cheap single pin but it was a slide style cheap piece of crap
November 14, 2012 at 8:47 pm #126878I’ve been shooting single pin for 3 years, and i’m going to be switching to a 3 or 4 vertical pin sight. I love the single pin for target practice, but when it comes to hunting I often feel like I don’t have enough time to range, adjust the sight and get a shot off. Also the single pin doesn’t give me a very good frame of reference if i have to shoot without know the exact distance. With few pins i can shoot between the pins and know the very close approximate distance.

HHA OL 5519
I have shot this sight for the last 5 years and would not shoot anything else. Spot and stalk it is left at 30 yards encase something not seen jumps up and stops. Treestand or ground blind you will have time for the most part to move scope to were it needs to be.
November 15, 2012 at 7:40 pm #126935been shooting a single pin for many years and never going back. son just went to single as well.
November 19, 2012 at 6:04 pm #127088I like single pins, but I also feel they arent for every setup. Depends on your bow and arrow setup and speed…. imo. I went for KE and dont have much speed so I dont want to worry about having to move my sight if i’m at full draw and all of s sudden he isnt at the yardage i thought he would be. I like to put the pin exactly where that arrow should hit and dont want to kentucky windage him and aim a little high cuz i have my pin at 20 and he is 30.
With that being said, if i had a faster bow I would be shooting my HHA, cuz yardage wouldnt be as big an issue with a flatter shooting bow. So like I said, I feel it all depends on your setup as to what style sight would be best.
November 21, 2012 at 1:51 pm #127224I shoot an HHA slider single pin. I set it for like 27 yards and adjust if needed for further shots.
shadowalkerPosts: 1December 26, 2012 at 6:58 pm #128357I have been shooting a single pin pendulum sight for 25 years.I have updated to newer version over the years but would never change. Now shooting Trophy Ridge with adjustable distance,,I do the majority of my hunting from a summit treestand and this works for those encounters that are fast as well as easy pickings,,just my 2 cents,,

25 years of hunting, you must have some stories to share with us?
develPosts: 132October 21, 2013 at 12:00 am #132950I started shooting a single pin 6 years ago and was on the fence at first. I had an older slower bow and I was nervous I would have to switch from say a 15 yard shot to a 30 and be SOL. With the new whip I shot flat out to 25 with the FMJ’s so I was a little skeptical.
Now after switching to the VAP’s I’m keeping the single pin without a doubt in my mind. Flat to 35.
We were doing a little filming this last weekend so I was shooting my buddy’s extra creed and he had it set up with a 5 pin sight. It was a little cluttered for my taste, didn’t care for it. He said he’ll be switching to a single pin soon. In fact he dropped all of his pins except one 50 yarder on the Chill.
No doubt, go single pin with faster arrows!
