My daughters and I are very interested in taking up archery and let me start by saying I know nothing really, have never done it. I’m waiting and searching for a used deal for me, but would like to surprise the girls with one for xmas. They are 14 and 18 and the same height 4’10”-4’11” so they will be sharing one for starters. Been looking at 2 online at cabelas; Diamond razor edge for 299 with a draw wt of 30-60, length of 19-29 and a 50% let off;and a bear apprentice 2 for 279 draw wt of 20-60, length 15-27 and 70% let off. As I said this is all pretty greek to me so just looking for a few tips or reviews before I talk to a salesman and just stand there and nod like an idiot Am I in the ballpark on these as starter packages or way off

My vote goes for the Razors Edge. Four of my friends wives are shooting them and they are fantastic. Also have a couple kids in our archery club shooting them because they can be adjusted as the child grows. Quite a nice shooting bow too.

I think you are right where you need to be for bows. Also the Mission mentioned above should be on the list. Welcome to a great sport!

I bought a browning micro midas for my son, pretty adjustable, nice little bows. $150 on craigslist almost brand new all decked out with arrows, quiver, release, everything.
