In 2 weeks I’ll be on the road to northern Idaho with stick and string looking to tickle the ribs of one of these critters…This is my second trip out there, and was fortunate to have tagged a bull last time.

Here are a couple of trail cam photos that my buddy (who lives out there) pulled a few weeks ago. He’s hunting this morning – said that he had a few bulls talking to him over the weekend. The rut’s starting!

Awesome. I’ve got a buddy who lives out there that keeps hounding me to come hunt with him. Gonna have to take him up on it one of these years.

One of my buddies is supposed to be headed out next week to hunt with some family. They talked the other day and the area they are hunting is open to people that have cabins in the area because of fires… They are not sure if they will be able to hunt.

Yeah, I’d had a standing invitation for 4 or 5 years to join these guys on the Idaho trip, but had declined because I knew that it would be like trying cocaine. I’d probably be addicted. I probably couldn’t afford it. It probably would impact my family life.

As it turned out, all of that was true…so, I held off in returning for a few years (to save money and to make sure things were smooth on the homefront). I’m planning my next trip out there in about 4 years. My boys will both be old enough to join me then.
